Assel Salimova

Assel graduated from Kazakh-British Technical University in 2007 with degree in Petroleum Engineering. During the period of 2007-2008 worked with Schlumberger as a Wireline field engineer-trainee in the Netherlands. In 2008 she joined Baker Hughes to a position of Geoscientist based in Atyrau. Today Assel is the Geoscience Manager for Baker Hughes in Russia Caspian based in Moscow. Assel is in charge of Geoscience department and supporting operations and sales team. Her area of expertise include petrophysics, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Wireline Formation Testing including Sampling, Downhole Fluids Analysis and Advanced RCI applications, StimGun and Perforating modelling, casing inspection and cement evaluation. Assel is a holder of Schlumberger and Kazenergy student scholarships.


Relationship to SPE

Assel is an active SPE member since student years for more than 9 years. She was a SPE student chapter Membership chairman at KBTU. Assel had been a Young Professionals Chairman since 2009 in Atyrau. In this position she supported Atyrau SPE student chapter by organizing technical and soft skills development presentations and field trips. Assel presented Atyrau SPE Young Professionals in Kazenergy 3rd Youth forum in Astana in October 2010. Forum dedicated to the topic of issues and training prospects for young professionals for the oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan. Also she conducted an YP opening meeting in October 2010 in Atyrau and arranged a field trip to Baker Hughes Wireline Services base in December 2010.

Assel has joined the SPE Moscow section since December 2014 and is responsible for public relations.
