SPE Moscow Section

 


Our mission – to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.

 

Our vision – enable the global oil and gas exploration and production industry to share technical knowledge needed to meet the world’s energy needs in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

 

Our history – The organizational meeting of Moscow SPE section was on the 12th November 1991 at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.

 

25 people participated from the leading research and educational institutions:

Moscow section is officially registered in the SPE head office (Dallas, USA) on the 23th February 1992.

Growth of our section

 

Nowadays Moscow SPE section has about 600 members and their number is greatly increasing during the past two years.

Moscow section members are employees of more than 40 oil companies, oil service companies, universities and research centers. The largest number of active members is the part of technical disciplines of “Reservoir Description and Dynamics", "Production and Operations" and "Drilling and Completions" and is equal about 2/3 of the total members number. Nowadays we attract and welcome new members and sponsors.

Moscow SPE Section Awarded Members

Regional awards are given to SPE members as a sign of their high level of competence and professionalism, technical skills, career achievements and as sign of the success SPE activity.

 

 

We annually present various awards to individual SPE members and sections. In Moscow SPE section it has been handed about 90 SPE regional awards during the last 10 years. The main purpose of the contest is to attract new members and retain existing ones. The winner receives $ 1,000 as a prize. In addition to applications, faculty can be nominated by colleagues.

Conferences and Workshops

SPE organizes technical conferences of two types — multi-disciplinary technical conferences,with many participants and several technical sessions going simultaneously; and highly specialized workshops in which about 80 specialized professionals usually involves.

 

 

Workshops were organized to create the best conditions for the exchange of information between the participants. For this purpose there are discussion session following to technical presentations, participants ask questions to the speakers and exchange their views.

 

 

 

Technical conferences have several advantages:

  • Actuality: content of technical conference are prepared by expert program committee which identifies the most interesting topics and issues for discussion.
  • The maximum possible exchange of experiences and ideas.
  • Discussion of new technology or a new experience: format of conference includes a discussion of projects that currently are studying or implementing.
  • Involvement of interested experts: discussion of a particular topic between professionals and experts involved in this theme.

Education Programs of SPE Moscow Section

 

Regional lecturers Program – Professionals will be able to make technical presentation in one or several SPE sections during planned or private trips (in this case, SPE takes over trip organization).

YEPP Program – Main objective is the professional growth. Meetings of young professionals are monthly held and organized by Moscow SPE section. Meeting allows to connect professionals from various regions with video-conferencing. Meetings are held at 19.00 (Moscow time). We invite you to meetings in Moscow, St. Petersburg or other cities (we can help you with the organization of video-communication).

Energy4me Program – Energy4me program aims to attract interest of youth in oil and gas industry. The program includes visits to the sponsored school by student and professional sections, also seminars for teachers, which is carried out once a year as part of the October conference.
