Workshop Description and Call for Presentations

In the last several years we can see the increasing interest to the development of heavy oil and viscose oil fields that is justified by the substantial growth of its share in the world’s hydrocarbon resource balance. This workshop will be focused on discussion of the main issues and challenges in the heavy oil field development and reservoir management, state of the art and future EOR methods as well as management of heavy oil field development. The special emphasis will be placed to the heavy oil recovery from the oil field rims.

The Workshop Program Committee involves the Russia’s best experts in heavy oil field development that represent the following national and international petroleum companies: Lukoil, Rosneft, Tatneft, TNK-BP, Zarubezhneft, Schlumberger, BakerHughes and others. The specialists from Venezuela, Canada, China and other countries with the experience in heavy oil developments are invited for this workshop participation

The Committee is offering for the Workshop Programme the following technical sessions and topics for group discussions:

Session 1 – Russia’s Heavy Oil fields: Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow.

Session 2 - Heavy Oil: Evaluation of Reservoir and Fluids properties.

Session 3 - State of the Art and Future of EOR Methods I: cold production methods.

Session 4 – State of the Art and Future of EOR Methods II: thermal and chemical methods.

Session 5 – Modern Technologies in Drilling, Completion, Monitoring and Management of HO Field Development .

Group Discussion 1 – Complex HO fields– bottom water, gas cap, carbonate reservoirs.

Group Discussion 2 – Technology Gap Analysis for Russia.

Group Discussion 3 – Analysis of Research requirements in Russia.

The preference will be given to presentations that precisely correspond to the above listed themes and demonstrate the most illustrative cases providing the combination of experience and innovations, application of traditional and advanced practices

The workshop is a limited attendance meeting for up to 100 people and shall be of interest to the specialists involved in research and development of heavy oil fields:
