Workshop Description

Modern methodologies & technologies in well data acquisition & analysis open broad opportunities for integrated petrophysical modeling. Algorithms that harness the efficiency of up-to-date processing technologies can greatly decrease the turnaround time of core & log data evaluation. This, combined with already existing knowledge of interpretation methodologies improves interactive information exchange, ultimately resulting in improved understanding of reservoir rock and fluid properties – ie petrophysical models of hydrocarbon accumulations. As with any rapidly developing technology, new trends are emerging in many organizations and companies independently from one another, often in parallel.

The purpose of the workshop is to bring together specialists from Oil and Gas Operating and Service Companies with a purpose of discussing the state and outlining future trends of Russian Petrophysics and Well Log Analysis discipline. The workshop will provide a possibility of attending mini courses & lectures on core analysis and volumetric calculations. The rest of the workshop is organized around sessions with selected informative talks & poster presentations. By the end of each session we plan to have discussions in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

The Program Committee would like to welcome abstract submissions for main themes of the workshop:

  • Planning & execution of core analysis (routine and special) - one of the fundamental petrophysical topics
  • Integrated log, core interpretation technoques. Multi-log interpretation, field studies, also examples of interpretation methodology for “non-standard” reservoirs. This session will be held in two sub-sessions and will be the central event of the workshop.
  • The 3rd session is dedicated to the discussion of a vital problem of effective petrophysical support for the oil & gas fields development. This will include topics like support static and dynamic model building, acquisition of data about current.

Workshop Objectives and Deliverables

  • Optimization of log & core acquisition programs for different geological objectives
  • Enhancement of cooperation between various petroleum engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge exchange in the questions of integration of core, log & production data
  • Innovative technologies of core & log data acquisition & analysis
  • Formulation of methodological recommendations for petrophysical support of oil & gas field modeling & development
