SPE Moscow Section Meeting in December

 On December 6, 2016 Michael Gillen, Baker Hughes made an outstanding presentation on "Applications and Advantages of Logging-While-Drilling in High Angle and Horizontal Wells".

 “COMEUNITY” NATIONAL FORUM

       From the 7th to the 11th of December 2016 Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter activists S. Basharov and D. Kolesnichenko participated in the National Forum of the International Education Young Leaders “COMEUNITY” in Tyumen. The event was organized by students of Tyumen State University. This year, the Forum was held for the second time. Participants of the event were students from Russia, Ghana, USA and other countries, currently studying in various Russian universities. In total, there were 60 participants.
The “COMEUNITY” Forum started on the 7th of December, a sightseeing tour around the city was organized for the guests. Then everybody checked in. After that there was an informal opening ceremony where participants discussed some organizational issues and had a chance to get closer to each other.
On the 8th of December there was an official opening ceremony. Then there was an introductory session, entitled “Internationalization of Higher Education in Russia: Role of Students and their Associations”. Also there was a project session on the topic “Foreign Students’ Integration in Russia”, where students could discuss particular problems and ways of further development.
On the 9th of December the Brazilian photographer Angelica Dass, known for her "HUMANAE" project, appeared on the Forum. She has already taken photos of more than 4 000 people in 16 different countries of the world. Then some lectures were held in English by Lukas Oppermann and Ivan Kobelev, representing a non-profit international student organization “Erasmus Student Network”. It's mission consists in representing international students, providing opportunities for intercultural understanding and also opportunities for social and personal development. “Erasmus Student Network” organization follows the principle which claims that all the students should help each other.
The next event was called “Open Space”. On this event students from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) represented Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter.
On the 10th of December the Forum was visited by Yvette Guntersdorfer, coordinator of the program “Intercultural Communication" of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
On the 11th of December the program of the Forum came to its end, participants were awarded with certificates.


CHARITY CONCERT «GIVE A NEW YEAR TO CHILDREN»

On the 9th of December Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter, in cooperation with a volunteers’ organization "Reliable Friend” and charity fund “Solar Circle”, held a charity concert, entitled “Give a New Year to Children”.
At the beginning of the event organizers told guests about the social rehabilitation center for children in the town of Suvorov, also about the kids, temporarily living there, and mentioned the difference between the center and ordinary orphanage.
Money, raised on the concert, was spent on organization of the New Year celebration for kids and also on purchase of necessary equipment for the rehabilitation center. The center started taking care of disabled children this autumn.
Particularly, the organizers would like to thank the members of SPE Moscow Section and Moscow Board for having bought gifts for children. Every child wrote a letter to Santa Claus, in which they told about their wish. And this New Year’s night the wishes will come true!


TIME MANAGEMENT TRAINING BY OLGA BARANOVA

On the 13th of December 2016 time management training was held at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) by business coach and successful entrepreneur, Olga Baranova. The event was organized by Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter.
The training was held in an interactive form.  At the beginning Olga asked students to make a list of things, on which they usually aimlessly waste their spare time. This list included such activities as watching series, holding phone conversations, using social networks. Olga advised students to spend as little time on these activities as possible in order to achieve maximum productivity of their work.
Moreover, Olga told about the Eisenhower Matrix (also Priority Matrix) which helps to plan work effectively, by separating important issues from the least important ones, urgent from not urgent, and also by spending much less time on any activities which do not produce significant results.
It is worth noting that during the training Olga explained all her statements with examples from her personal experience, thus really motivating all the students.


“HOW TO MAKE CAREER” BY KONSTANTIN BORISOV

On 16 of December the lection “How to make career” by Konstantin Borisov was organized in Gubkin University by Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter.
Konstantin is the founder of recruiting company SUPPORT PARTNERS, whose clients include Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, ERIELL, Enel, BASHNEFT etc. Thus he exactly had something to tell to future specialists.
The lection was held in quite unusual format, because Konstantin stated his preparation to answer all questions directly during his speech.  It should be mentioned, that such format arranged students to the speaker.
In the beginning of the speech Konstantin warned, that he was not going to teach student something, but he wished to tell students about mistakes he had made. Talked about his career pathway, Konstantin marked key moments and analyzed them. Konstantin underlined, that it is really important to do what you really like and what you want to do, and wished everyone to find such deal!
