July Section Meeting

This July monthly meeting was the first one that the SPE Moscow Section has held, extending the season for one more session, and was a meeting that allowed us to celebrate few achievements!

The final SPE Moscow Section meeting was a good moment to show appreciation to our sponsors, and Kreso Kurt Butula, SPE Moscow Section Chairperson, was delighted to present a plaque to Statoil Russia, represented by Mr. John Milne, Statoil Russia Exploration Manager for being SPE Moscow Section General Partner for three years. Eurasia Drilling Company represented by Mr. Atle Loge, Vice President Business Development was presented with a plaque for being the SPE Moscow Section Season 2015-2016 Supporter.

Volunteer efforts like this, from individuals and their companies, are essential for SPE Moscow section to continue offering excellent technical and educational programs and events.

Runo Mijnarends, Reservoir Engineer at Salym Petroleum Development, one of the authors of the paper, presented novel, data-driven approach to integrated well/reservoir performance analysis and opportunity identification for mid- to late-life pattern waterfloods.

As the SPE paper on the topic will be presented by the authors at the 2015 RPTC in Moscow in October, the presentation given on the July meeting will be only available in November.

Authors [from left to right]: Andrey Gladkov, General Director at Modeling Technologies Center; Runo Mijnarends, Reservoir Engineer at Salym Petroleum Development and Yakov Volokitin, Director of the Geology and Development Department at Salym Petroleum oil company.

At the end of the Q&A session Runo selected the best questions asked for what SPE Moscow Section awarded the already traditional awards presents to three attendees of the event.

There was also another pleasant surprise for everyone: SPE Moscow section announced the most regular monthly event attendees. Pavel Bekeshko was awarded the SPE backpack for attending all the monthly section meetings!

The other top attendees for the 2014-2015 Seasons are Sergey Kolbikov (Novatek), Irina Surovets (SPD) and John Gallivan (AGR-TRACS). Sergei, Irina and John are members of the SPE Moscow Section Board.
